Team Drag2Zero had a successful day on the K41/10 today, claiming first place in both the men's and women's races.
The annual open event, held in memory of Coventry Club rider Diana Cooke, had a fantastic turnout this year attracting nearly 100 riders from across the midlands.
Conditions on the course were far from ideal with an incredibly strong headwind for the first half of the journey, which made the first leg tough for many of the riders. There was little help on the return with no tail wind until the last 300 metres.
Only 1 second separated first and second place in the men's category with Jon SImpkins stopping the clock at 20:59 followed closely by Stuart Travis with a time of 21:00. Third place was claimed by Lutterworth Cycles's Andrew Green with a strong time of 21:25.
Rachael Elliot had a fantastic ride, recording a time of 22:34 - which is just 11 seconds off the course record! Liz Powell and Diana Egerton also had cracking rides, crossing the line with times of 23:32 and 24:44 respectively. With strong rides like this, I'm expecting that we'll see a new course record by the end of the season.
